Abandoned baby 'Kumaraswamy' breastfed by Bengaluru lady constable; people showers praises on social media
In a praisable move by the female police constable of Bengaluru city, the life of an infant baby was saved from starvation after she breastfed the baby who was abandoned by its own family. Constable Archana breastfed the baby after he was found near an under-construction house in the city. According to reports, on Friday, the Electronics City police were contacted by a shopkeeper from Celebrity Layout in Doddathoguru.
The baby was coming under the notice of a rag picker stuffed in a plastic bag kept under a bush, the shopkeeper told the cops. Taking the matter in the hand, Assistant Sub-Inspector Nagesh R rushed to the scene and rescued the infant. Later, he took the infant to the nearest hospital where doctors treated the baby free of cost. "The baby was in bad shape. He was covered in blood and the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck."
Nagesh brought the baby to the police station after the treatment where the lady constable, mother of three-month-old boy breastfed the baby as she felt for the child. While speaking to the British Broadcasting Corporation, Constable Archana said, "I just couldn't bear it. I felt like my child was crying and I had to feed the baby."
Later, Nagesh bought some new clothes for the baby boy and the police station staff decided to name him after the state's newly elected Chief Minister, Kumaraswamy. "It is the government’s baby now, and we decided to name him Kumaraswamy as it would be under the care of the government," Nagesh R told the national daily.
Meanwhile, the baby has now been handed over to Shishu Mandir on Hosur Road. Chief Minister and JD(S) Supremo, HD Kumaraswamy sent out a tweet praising the police station and the female constable for taking care of the child.
