A failed robbery attempt and a ‘Sorry Note’: Thieves dig 15-foot tunnel to break into jewellery shop

In an unusual incident, a group of thieves dug a 15-foot-long tunnel from a drain to break into a jewelry shop in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut. However, when they failed to break open the vault, they did something strange and hilarious at the same time.

Before leaving, they scribbled an apology note for the shop owner, in which two of them were identified as ‘Chunnu’ and ‘Munnu.’ The note simply read, ‘We are sorry.’

Deepak Kumar opened the jewellery shop on February 2 and discovered the burglary attempt. He immediately informed the cops. The thieves left a gas cutter, indicating that it didn’t play a significant role in the robbery.

“They broke into the shop on Wednesday night and tried to break open the vault using a gas cutter but failed,” Kumar told the Hindustan Times.

According to Kumar the idol of Lord Krishna, which he kept inside the shop, was facing the wall when he opened the shop. “The thieves probably did not want to commit the crime with the God watching them and turned the statue around,” he said.

The thieves, however, took the CCTV cameras’ hard disk with them on which the video recording was stored.
