Supreme Court refuses to stay 10 % reservation bill for poor in jobs and Education, but will examine its validity

The Supreme Court on Friday issued notice to the Centre regarding the 10 per cent reservation bill for the upper category poor and sought its response within four weeks.
The Supreme Court issues notice to Centre on pleas challenging the constitutional amendment that gives 10 per cent reservation in jobs and education for economically weaker section of the general category.The headed by CJI Ranjan Gogoi will hear a batch of petitions challenging the decision, which takes the total quotas beyond the 50 per cent cap set by the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court also refused to stay implementation of 10 per cent reservation to the economically weaker section of general category. A bench of CJI Ranjan Gogoi says “we will examine the issue.”
