24-year-old decides to marry herself; know the bizarre reason

On 11th June, India will witness a wedding it has never seen before as Kshama Bindu, aged 24, marries herself. The woman from Gujarat’s Vadodara will get hitched with herself and the wedding will feature every ritual — from the 'pheras' and wedding vows to a honeymoon, but will not have a groom.

This will be India's first ever sologamy. "I looked up to see if there has been any such marriage in India, but couldn't find any. Maybe I am the first one to do so." According to the Times of India, Kshama said, “I never wanted to get married. But I did want to become a bride. So I decided to marry myself.”

“Self-marriage is a commitment to be there for yourself and unconditional love for oneself. It’s also an act of self-acceptance. People marry someone they love. I love myself and hence, this wedding,” elucidated Kshama.

As maintained by the report, Kshama's step to marry herself was meant for highlighting the fact that "women matter". She said: "Some might perceive self-marriage as irrelevant. But what I am actually trying to portray is that women matter,” she said.

Talking about the response of her family members, Kshama said her parents had blessed her to proceed further with the neptial. Kshama has prepared five vows for the wedding that will take place at a temple in Gotri.

Following the wedding, Kshama has planned to take herself on a honeymoon to Goa.
