Sufi festival attracting thousands in Ajmer
Sufi artists from across the world have converged into Ajmer in Rajasthan for the national 10th International Sufi Rang Festival 2017.
The mega event, being held near the shrine of famous Sufi Saint Khwaja Moin-ud-din Chishti, is witnessing various national and international artists of Islamic art, paintings, poetry and calligraphy.
Organiser of the festival, Syed Salman of Chishty foundation said, "The seven-day event is organised every month during the Islamic holy month of Rabi-ul-Awwal and witnesses Sufi paintings and calligraphy from different artists across the world."
As many as 30 artists and poets are participating in the colourful festivities with the aim of "sharing creative spiritual expressions with masses" and will be on until December 1.
The venue of the event is particularly interesting as it houses the shrine of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishty, a 12th-century Sufi saint from Persia.
Known as Gareeb Nawaz or the befecator of the poor, the saint is remembered for his teachings of "Love towards all, malice towards none."
