Miss Universe 2017: Know who took the crown home
As many as ninety-two women participated in the Miss Universe 2017 pageant that took place on November 26, 2017 in Las Vegas. Beauties from all over the world participated in the competition in which Miss South Africa was crowned as the Miss Universe.
In the competition, the first runner-up turned out to be Miss Colombia Laura González and the second runner-up turned out to be Miss Jamaica Davina Bennett.
The winner of the pageant, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, who is 22 years-old, has a degree in business management at North-West University.
During the competition's Q&A round, the newly crowned Miss Universe was questioned about the most important issue that women are facing at the workplace. To which she gracefully answered,"In some places, women get paid 75% of what men earn for doing the same job, working the same hours — and I do not believe that this is right. I think we should have equal work for equal pay for women all over the world.”
Iris Mittenaere from France, who was the Miss Universe crown successor and everyone from the audience clapped and cheered. The night was made musical by the Grammy-winning singer Fergie and pop star Rachel Platten.
