This is a tale of undying love between Vikram Batra and his girlfriend Dimple Cheema:

Dimple Cheema, in a conversation with The Quint, said that she met Batra in Punjab University in 1995 and soon after they started dating each other. In 1996, Vikram Batra left Chandigarh to move to Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. She told that their love got much stronger in their long distance relationship.

Batra used to visit Dimple in Chandigarh during his training time before his postings. She recalled how beautifully she was proposed by the man of his life.

Talking about the cherished incident of her life, Dimple said that her family along with the family of Batra visited Mansa Devi Temple and Gurudwara Sri Nada Sahab. While doing the 'Parikrama', Batra was behind Dimple and as the Parikrama got over Batra came to Dimple and said in her ears, "Congratulations Mrs Batra".

Batra, who was holding Dimple's dupatta, said, "Didn't you realise that this is the fourth time we doing this Parikrama," Quint quoted the girl as saying.

She had informed Batra that her family had been pressurising her for marriage, while he was away on posting following which Batra performed a 'filmy marriage' with her. She reportedly said that Batra immediately took out a blade from his wallet, cut his thumb and filled Dimple's "maang" with the blood. She told she used to tease her after the whole incident that he is 'Pura filmy".

It is believed that their love story bloomed for four years and they planned to get married after the end of the Kargil war. Unfortunately, it didn't happen. But that doesn't mean that the love story ended. Dimple Cheema is still living her life in the loving and caring memories of her legendary boyfriend Vikram Batra.

Dimple still regrets one thing that his love Vikram Batra is not here to share his accomplishments with her.
