MS Dhoni reveals if he will lead Chennai Super Kings again in IPL next year
MS Dhoni is one of the most successful captains in the history of the Indian Premier League. Dhoni has led his team to eight IPL finals and in every play-off since 2008. Dhoni has won three IPL titles for Chennai Super Kings and has defended once in 2011.
MS Dhoni revealed whether he would lead Chennai in the next IPL when asked by Sanjay Manjrekar in the post-match interview. Dhoni’s answer was, “hopefully yes.” It is speculated that Suresh Raina will lead CSK from next season as he himself hinted in an interview.
Chennai Super Kings lost to Mumbai Indians by just 1 run as they also lost the chance to become the most successful team in IPL history.
Batting first, Mumbai Indians posted 149 runs on board with help of Kieron Pollard’s unbeaten 41-run knock. Chennai Super Kings was looking good to chase down the target before Shane Watson’s unfortunate run-out. Watson was dismissed for 80 runs, another fine knock in the finals.
Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga did a great job to restrict CSK to 148. Bumrah was economical with two wickets to his name. Malinga went for runs but showed his class in the final over when skipper Rohit Sharma trusted him with the ball. Malinga took a wicket off the last ball when CSK needed 2 runs from 1 ball. The match would have gone into a super over if Malinga hadn’t had dismissed Shardul Thakur.
