The 11th season of the Indian Premier League is a week away and the excitement around the cricket tournament is at an all-time high. The auction this season saw the players like Jaidev Unadkat being sold for heavy sums and the likes of Chris Gayle going unsold till the last day. However, this season also witnessed the likes of Manish Pandey being sold for 11 crores but the biggest names in the league including Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni were retained by their teams.
Most of us know about the sums that the players auctioned this year went for but the Price of MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli is still a mystery for most.
Here we have compiled a list of all the captains of the IPL season 11 and the money they received for playing for their franchises.
Virat Kohli(RCB): Currently holding the post of the Indian skipper, the batsman is 24 Karat gold. His batting skills combined with the consistency with which he delivers is something the world wants. He was retained by his team Royal Challengers for a sum of Rs 17 crore.
MS Dhoni(CSK): The former captain of the Indian team is one of the most successful captains in the world. Under him, the Indian team won the world cup, both T20 and the ODI. Also, under him, India reached the top spot in the test cricket. He was retained by the CSK for a sum of Rs 15 crore.
Rohit Sharma(MI): The hit-man Ro-hit Sharma is the only player in the world to have hit the double century twice. The player has been retained by Mumbai Indians for a sum of Rs 15 crore.
Ravichandran Ashwin(KXIP): The ace spin bowler has earned a sum of Rs 7.6 crore.
Dinesh Karthik(KKR): The recent knock in the finals of the Nidahas Trophy brought the wicketkeeper-batsman to the limelight. He smashed a fantastic 29 run haul at mere 8 balls. He has earned Rs 7.4 crore this season.
Ajinkya Rahane(Rajasthan Royals): After the Steve Smith ball-tampering saga, he has been appointed the captain of the team. He was purchased for Rs 4 crore.
Kane Williamson(Sunrisers Hyderabad): He has earned Rs 3 crore for his services. He has been recently appointed the captain of the team after CA banned David Warner for a year.
Gautam Gambhir(DD): The former captain of the KKR who played a crucial inning in the final of the 2011 world cup that provided the team with a base to win the final against Sri-Lanka is the cheapest captain of the IPL. He was bought for Rs 2.8 crore.
