IPL 2018: Here is how coach Stephen Fleming will play MS Dhoni card to bring CSK on track
MS Dhoni, will be seen donning the old yellow jersey of CSK, that we are all so used to of seeing him wearing. CSK will make a comeback after serving a two year ban that was imposed on the franchise due to its owners being involved in betting. Dhoni, recently revealed how much he missed playing in the CSK uniform for two years and now that he is back with the team, the adrenaline levels are at an all time high.
CSK will play the first match of the IPL 2018 against the Mumbai Indians. The former captain of New Zealand Stephen Fleming and the coach of the team has revealed that MS Dhoni would play a more 'prominent role' in the CSK batting order. MS Dhoni may be brought up in the batting order to better assist the team in its batting performance.
"MS will be relatively high. The time that we choose may depend on the match situation as well. He would definitely play a more prominent role as a batter," Fleming said when asked about Dhoni's probable batting position in the IPL 2018.
"Ahead of him there are some good picks, Kedar Jadhav, Ambati Rayudu, Jadeja, Bravo, Harbhajan fits in there as well, Karn Sharma, they can all hit. So again, looking at our sides, there a lot of multi-skilled players. There is a lot of options there," Fleming added.
When asked about the opening pair, Fleming said that they have not yet decided on that yet. Fleming also underlined the presence of Veteran Indian Spinner Harbhajan Singh. "Excited to have Bhajji here. I have always rated him high. He will play a big part in the season. It will be different than bowling at the Wankhede (stadium). The bounce and top-spin he gets are more suited to the ground here" He said.
He was also asked about the inclusion of Yo-Yo test for the team to which he answered "The yo-yo test... No. It is very much into personal fitness. It is not the focus of the side. There is so many other stuff to get right. We have Greg King from South Africa, who is an outstanding trainer. All we ask for is a continuation of the professionalism. We don't ask to up the ante or drop it down,".
