Shocker: Man Kills burglar, keeps dead body for 15 years
In a shocking incident, a Australian hoarder murdered a burglar and kept his dead body for 15 years, using more than 70 room fresheners to cover up the odour, reported local media on Thursday.
A coronial inquest came to know that Sydney man, identified as Bruce Roberts gunned down an intruder Shane Snellman during an attempted home robbery in 2002 and kept the dead body in his residence, public broadcaster ABC reported.
Following the death of Robert himself in 2017 of natural causes, neighbours called the emergency services who found his corpse slumped over a heater.
However, Snellman's remains were not found in the middle of piles of rubbish in the house until cleaners were brought in to clean the estate about a year later.
The dead body was surrounded by more than 70 bottles of room freshener used to hold back the foul odour, the coroner's court reportedly heard.
Bruce Roberts was said to be an extreme hoarder who seldom came out of his house, where more than a dozen firearms were also found.
