Putin says he always wanted Trump to be the President of US
On Monday during a summit with the US President Donald Trump in Finland, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he always wanted Trump to be the President of the US but he isn't involved in the campaign. Putin also said that he always favoured the businessman Trump for his policies.
Hours after the crucial summit, the US President Trump said that he and his Russian counterpart Putin spent a great deal of time discussing on the 2016 US election and alleged Russian involvement.
Condemning the conspiracy theories of Russia meddling in the US election, Trump said that he has countless times said “no collusion”. During a joint press conference, Putin, as always, denied all. Trump said, "US-Russia relations had been at their lowest point until the two sat down face-to-face in a highly-anticipated summit," He also added that things have changed four hours ago.
He even said, “We ran a brilliant campaign and that’s why I’m president.”
Just before the`summit started, Trump tweeted, "Our relationship with Russia has NEVER been worse. Many years of US foolishness and stupidity and now, the Rigged Witch Hunt!” Agreeing with Trump's tweet, the Russian foreign ministry responded,“We agree.”
While Trump has denied any contact with the Russian President, Putin said, "Trump has maintained regular contact through phone calls." He also added that the time has come to have a thorough discussion on various international problems and sensitive issues.”
