Pakistan's PTV News ousts two journalists for airing map which shows Kashmir as part of India
State-run PTV News of Pakistan has axed two journalists for showing an erroneous map of the country which exhibiting Kashmir as a part of India.
The incident, which took place on 6th June, was brought up in Parliament on 8th June following which Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani passed the issue to the Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting to reach a decision.
The PTV management on 7th June said on social media that it was investigating the matter and actions would be brought against those culpable of the gaffe.
The hammer fell on 10th June following the sacking of two employees.
"Taking strict action on the recommendations of the inquiry committee designated to probe the airing of an incorrect image of a map of Pakistan on June 6 on PTV News, the PTV management has terminated two officials found responsible for the professional oversight," it tweeted.
The employees who were sacked has not been identified but stated that it has zero tolerance of negligence.
Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry and Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari had previously demanded action against those employees responsible for the mistake.
Pakistan, in its map, displays Kashmir as its territory.
According to India Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Aksai Chin are part of India's Jammu and Kashmir, and that Kashmir Valley is an integral part of the country.
