Meet 17-year-old girl preparing to become the first human on Mars
A 17-year-old girl named Alyssa Carson from Baton Rouge, Louisiana is being trained to become an astronaut and she might be the first human to reach Mars, mission 2033.
She is the first person to get the NASA Passport Program, she visited all 14 NASA Visitor Centers. Youngest to graduate from the Possum Academy, getting a certificate to travel to space.
She is just 17-year-old, yet NASA is training her to become an astronaut
Her aim is to be a part of the mission to Mars in 2033.
This mission 2033 is an effort to establish the first human colony on Mars.
Being an ardent speaker, she encourages others to follow their passion and dream. She says in her speech, “Always follow your dream and don’t let anyone take it from you,” She also said that her inspiration is women astronauts.
Besides astronaut training, she learns four languages (English, Chinese, French, and Spanish). Alyssa said, "The biggest challenge is time and getting everything done at such a young age while also still attending high school. Continuing to train at a young age will also be further difficulties for me but I have done great with it so far.”
