Maryam Nawaz receives threat to life
After the historic Avenfield properties judgment in which former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and daughter Maryam Nawaz were sentenced to 10-year jail and 7 years respectively, they attended a press conference in London. During the press conference, Maryam shared that she does not feel safe in Pakistan and has been getting life threats for long.
Maryam said, " I have been receiving threat messages for long. A group of people have asked me to leave Pakistan and stay with my mother in London. But, I prefer not hearing these warnings and that is why I have been sentenced to 7-year-imprisonment,"
She even added that she had an easy path to choose which would have got her laurels but she prefers choosing a difficult path as she wanted to be a torchbearer.
When asked, why did she take a risk, she said, "I want the future generation to live in a Pakistan that is free of terror and fear. Each one should live with head held high not suppressed." Accusing a group of people of ruining peace and stability in Pakistan, she said, "The situation in Pakistan is terrible." When asked if there is a threat to her life, she said, "Life has to come and go, one has to live for truth and stand against wrong."
Maryam took to Twitter to state that "forces" have never been successful in breaking Sharif's resolve in the face of adversity.
