Luxurious inter-city travel 'flying taxi' concepts revealed

First vertical take-off and landing aircrafts defining luxury inter-city travel were unveiled at the on-going Farnborough Airshow.

These are the two British companies that are developing a life-changing hybrid electric vehicle.

Rolls-Royce, a British engine maker unveiled their plans to develop a hybrid electric vehicle, a flying taxi. As the name suggests, this taxi would take off and land vertically, the stipulated time to develop this electric vehicle would be five years.

In the on-going Farnborough Airshow that kicked yesterday at Farnborough Airport, UK, the aerospace giant based in Derby, central England shared the plans of the flying taxi.

Rolls said, "Hope to manufacture a prototype version of electric vertical take-off and landing vehicle within the next 18 months, and could potentially take to the skies in the early 2020s."

This would be a five-seater plane and can cover a distance of 805 kilometres with a speed of 200 miles per hour.
Rob Watson, head of Rolls-Royce's electrical team said, "In this market, you will see something like this flying within three to five years, and we will demonstrate the system in two years," He also added that the end of next year flight would be ready.
