Inside Michael Jackson and father Joe Jackson's complicated relationship
Pop legend Michael Jackson's father Joe Jackson passed away on Wednesday, two-days after his son's death anniversary. Let's read about the kind of relationship they both shared.
Michael was five-year-old when he became the part of the Jackson 5. But, behind the glam lifestyle, there was a darker story. Born in a small steel town in Indiana, he was born and brought up in a small house and forced to rehearse by his father to the extent of exhaustion.
In a couple of interviews, Jackson shared that he was whipped by his father if he missed a single beat.
There was an occasion when Michael forgot to close the window of his bedroom and in order to teach him a lesson, father Joe climbed from the window into the room where Michael was asleep wearing a fright mask.
During an interview, Michael even called his father a bully who physically and mentally abused him. He even said, "If you didn't do it the right way, he would tear you up." On a talk show with Oprah Winfrey, he said, "I was so afraid of my father that I was sometimes sick when I saw him."
It was only after he turned 19 that he decided to sideline from his dad.
