Hosted by veteran satirist Stephen Colbert, the 69th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were just held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. Honouring the best in US primetime television programming, the award show is the television equivalent of the Oscars.

Just like the Oscars earlier in the year, this iteration of the Emmys was also a night of firsts. Donald Glover became the first black person to win an Emmy for directing, while Lena Waithe became the first black woman to win an Emmy for comedy writing for her work on Masters of None.
