Chinese gaming billionaire Lin Qi poisoned to death: Reports

A top gaming executive and billionaire Lin Qi died on Christmas Day after he was believed to have been poisoned by a colleague. He was at his 39s.

Lin Qi was the chairman and CEO of Yoozoo Group, a Chinese games developer founded in the year 2009. The company confirmed the news in a statement on Friday. "Goodbye youth. We will be together, continue to be kind, continue to believe in goodness, and continue the fight against all that is bad", the statement read.

In the meantime, the police have started probing the matter. On 17th December, the police responded to a call from the hospital, where Lin was admitted. The hospital authorities told the police that during Lin’s treatment, they have determined that he had been given poison. Police have identified Lin’s colleague named Xu Yao as the prime suspect in the case. He has been taken into custody, according to the Fox News reports.

Chinese media have reported that before the alleged poisoning, there was a dispute among the executives of the company. Lin, whose net worth is estimated to be around US$1.3 billion, was working on an adaptation of the sci-fi novel ‘The Three-Body Problem’ into a film for US streaming platform Netflix. The company announced that it will soon look for Lin’s successor.
