Both pilots fall asleep for 28 minutes; 153 Passengers on board
Jakarta: Both the pilots of Indonesia's Batik Air have been temporarily suspended. They slept for 28 minutes mid-flight with 153 passengers and crew members on board.
The Airbus briefly deviated from its path but eventually landed safely. The incident happened on 25 January from Sulawesi to Jakarta.
Jakarta Air Traffic Control tried to contact the pilots many times, but for 28 minutes, there was no response. Finally, the lead pilot woke up and then responded to the calls and landed the plane safely.
According to reports, the 32-year pilot gave control of the aircraft to his co-pilot as he wanted to take a rest. But, the co-pilot too fell asleep, according to a report from the transport ministry.
According to reports, the co-pilot was tired too as his wife had given birth to twin babies and he was helping her with childcare.
They passed the medical tests before the flight and alcohol tests were negative.
