Baby found in a box in Jakarta, parents plead in letter to take care
A two-day-old baby boy was abandoned in an uninhabited plot in West Jakarta on Wednesday. It was only after the scavengers started gathering around the box in which the baby was that residents discovered the infant.
After the baby was discovered it was immediately taken to a local health centre to get medical aid.
As per Pancoran Mas Police chief Roni Wowor, " A letter was also found inside the box which is apparently written by baby’s parent's,"
Wowor also added that the letter expressed their hope that whosoever finds the baby takes good care of him. It was due to financial difficulties that they left their infant in the box.
There has been a lot of abandoned baby cases in Indonesia because traditional values don't allow premarital sex and giving birth outside of wedlock.
In January this year, a new-born baby was found dead in a plane toilet in Indonesia. Later, a 37-year-old mother was arrested
The dead body of the baby was found wrapped in a plastic bag in a drawer in one of the plane's toilets.
