60 kg ovarian tumour removed from US woman
A 38-year-old US-based school teacher was treated with an ovarian tumour. The weight of a tumour would not only surprise you but you would read twice.
A case study released recently stated that an ovarian tumour measuring three feet and weighing 60 kg was removed in the US. Last year November the woman came to know that she has an ovarian tumour and it grew about 10 pounds per week. She got it treated on February 14 this year at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut.
Patients left ovary had to be removed where a tumour originated. It has been three months since the operation happened successfully and she is recovering.
A doctor who treated the woman said, "Ovarian mucinous tumours tend to be big but tumours this big are exceedingly rare in the literature.It may be in the top 10 or 20 tumours of this size removed worldwide,"
The doctor also shared that a tumour was life-threatening as it was compressing nearby blood vessels. He said, "She was at very high risk of developing blood clots."
