22-year-old Madhya Pradesh boy stranded in Pak jail would return to India very soon; Indian officials confirm

It has been nearly five years since Madhya Pradesh's absconded lad, Jitendra Arjunwar has been behind the bars in Pakistan. On Thursday Indian high commission in Islamabad confirmed that Indian government has confirmed his citizenship and are clearing the paper for his return to India.

One of the Indian high commission officers said, "India has informed Pakistan foreign office that Jitendra is Indian. They have requested that he be taken to Lahore so that he can be repatriated to India."

Earlier there were reports that the 22-year-old might take his last breath. Earlier there were reports that the 22-year-old might take his last breath however, officials have confirmed that he is bit frail.

To know more about the condition of the lad, Catch News came in touch with barrister Haya Emaan Zahid who spoke to Arjunwar in Prison, she said: " He is a patient of sickle cell anaemia and is surviving on medication." She also shared that on seeing a video of his mother, he identified her instantly.  

The 22-year-old was arrested on August 12, 2013, for drifting 25 km inside Pak in search of water. Although his prison term has ended in 2014, he is still in Pak prison as his identification issue was not sorted for long.
