109 hooded youths taken into custody after Paris May Day Violence

Mayday union demonstration led to turbulent protests in Paris. 109 people have been taken into custody on Wednesday after they torched a McDonald's restaurant and vehicles.

Several hooded youths joined the traditional May Day demonstration for workers right which later turned violent.

While President Emmanuel Macron was on a Sydney tour condemned the violence. He said during a press conference that May 1 marks Workers' Day not day of the hooligans.

People wearing a black jacket and face masks ran around the street shouting 'Rise up, Paris' and 'Everyone hates the police'.

Police said about 1,200 masked and hooded protesters attended the annual 1 May demonstration by labour unions.
