The minimum temperature on the wee hours of Sunday settled at 2 degrees Celsius. Dense fog has enveloped the city reducing visibility and affecting air traffic and vehicular movement in the streets.

Apart from Delhi, the red alert has also been issued for Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, and amber-color warning for Madhya Pradesh for Sunday. A red-coded warning is given for extreme weather events.

According to IMD, from December 31 onwards, rainfall is likely in the capital city and its adjoining areas such as Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad.

The minimum temperature recorded at various locations in Delhi. 2.8 degrees Celsius in Lodi Road area, 3.2 in Palam and 3.4 in Safdarjung area, as per the IMD latest bulletin.

Temperatures have risen by 2-3 degrees Celsius at many places over UP, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi, the temperature has risen by 1-2 degrees Celsius at many places over Bihar and temperature have risen by 0.5 degrees Celsius at few places over Madhya Pradesh and isolated places over Rajasthan.

However, temperatures have fallen by 1-2 degrees Celsius at few places over West Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh during the past 24 hours observed at 5:30 AM No significant change in temperatures over the remaining parts of northwest India. 

On Saturday, Minimum temperature of 2 degrees Celsius was recorded in the national capital, while Kufri, Manali, Solan, Bhuntar, Sundernagar, Seobagh and Kalpa shivered at below sub-zero temperatures in Himachal Pradesh on Saturday with the state's lowest temperature for the day recorded in Keylong at minus 11.5 degrees Celsius.
