Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul react on Assam floods as situation remains grim
Indian cricketers Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul are praying for the people of Assam after a heavy flood devastated the state. Rohit Sharma who is also the ambassador of saving rhino initiative put forward his concern for the animal of the state affected by rainwater.
Rohit Sharma took to his official Twitter handle to share his concern and he wrote, “Devasted to see this. People of Assam near Kaziranga please drive safely and slowly as these beautiful animals have nowhere to go but on the roads praying hard for the rain to let up for them.”
While Virat Kohli wrote, “Heartbroken to hear the devastation caused by the floods in Assam. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected out there. #PrayForAssam.”
KL Rahul wrote, “Heartbreaking to see the situation in Assam. Thoughts and prayers #StayStrongAssam.”
The situation in Assam remains grim with 29 districts affected by the floodwater. 27 people have lost their lives so far and the toll of affected people has risen to 57 lakh. Not only people who are affected by the devastating floods but animals of Kaziranga National Park were also in turmoil.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) an endangered rhino also died because of the flood. Brahmaputra river and its tributaries are flowing above the danger mark in various places in the state, including Guwahati.
