Vidisha Horror: At least 15 people fall in well in MP's Ganjbasoda area
Madhya Pradesh: In a shocking incident, at least 15 people fell into a well in the Ganjbasoda area in Vidisha on Thursday. According to media reports, people had gathered around the wall of the well to rescue a girl child who had drowned in the well.
As per reports, due to overcrowding, the walls of the well collapsed and people fell inside the well.
Soon after receiving information about the major accident, officials of the administration reached the spot. Relief and rescue operations were started immediately with the help of JCBs and other machines.
According to news agency ANI, “Teams of NDRF & SDRF have left for the incident site from Bhopal. The district collector and SP are on the spot. I've directed guardian minister Vishwas Sarang to reach there," Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said.
Taking to his Twitter handle, CM Chouhan wrote, "Under Ganjbasoda police station of Vidisha district, preliminary information has been received about some people falling into the well. SDM is present at the spot. District Collector and SP are also reaching on my instructions. The administration team is actively engaged in the rescue work."
The incident took place when a crowd gathered around the wall of the well to rescue the child who drowned in the well. Due to the heavy pressure on the well’s wall, it collapsed and several people fell into it.
The injured people have been rushed to a nearby hospital.
Meanwhile, the rescue operation is underway.
