UP: Woman hangs self to death, in-laws shoot video to claim innocence
In a shocking incident reported from Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar, a woman hung herself at her house on Monday.
While her in-laws gathered outside the window of the room she had locked herself in to record a video. As per a report, the victim’s in-laws recorded a video and posted it on social media. Expecting it would go viral, and it would be easier for them to claim their innocence.
While the victim’s father-in-law and mother-in-law have been taken into custody in the matter of her suicide, her husband and brother-in-law are on the loose. The duo have been booked in the case. The incident took place in Muzaffarnagar's Datiyana village on Sunday.
In the video, which went viral. The victim is seen tying a noose with her stole, tightening it, checking its grip before letting herself go, her father-in-law, in the background can be heard saying, "Apne aap latak rahi hai”.
According to the SP Arpit Vijayvargiya, the woman’s in-laws had made an attempt to stop her from committing suicide. Her parents, however, alleged that Komal was harassed for dowry by her in-laws for the past two years.
"I had given Rs 5 lakh and a bike to his family at the time. But his father Devendra, mother Savita and brother Sachin were not happy. About six months ago, they beat up Komal and drove her out of the house. The elders of the village sent her back," victim’s father Anil Kumar wrote in the complaint.
Furthermore, the father of the victim said in the complaint that about two months ago, Komal's in-laws began asking for Rs 1.2 lakh and threatened to get Ashish married to some other person.
An FIR in reference to the matter has been registered on Sunday.
