UP teacher fails to read English book, video goes viral
An English teacher failed to read a few lines of the language from a book after the District Magistrate, Devendra Kumar Pandey, asked her to read during an inspection of a government school in Sikandarpur Sarausi of Unnao district.
The incident happed on November 28.
The video shows the teacher of the school is struggling to read the Class VII English book.
As per the video, District Magistrate Devendra Kumar Pandey asked the woman teacher to read a paragraph from a book. However, the lady teacher failed to read a few lines out. Following the teacher's inability to read the book, DM Pandey ordered the immediate suspension of the teacher.
In the video, the DM can be seen saying, “She should be suspended immediately. She is a teacher and can’t even read, she can’t read English,”
"you are a graduate. I didn’t ask you the meaning of anything. I didn’t ask you to translate this, I just asked you to read it out,” Pandey said.
During the inspection of the government school, the DM was interacting with some students and found that they were unable to read English, following which the asked the teacher to read a paragraph from the book, but she failed.
Earlier, the woeful condition of government schools in Uttar Pradesh was also reported, where a primary school was accused of serving its student diluted milk under the mid-day meal scheme.
Authorities at the government primary school, Salai Banwa in Chopan of the tribal Sonbhadra district here had allegedly added one litre of milk to a bucket full of water and served it to as many as 85 children.
The children at the primary school are given a glass full of milk in their mid-day meal to make their diet wholesome.
However, the employees said there was unavailability of adequate quantity of milk so they resorted to diluting it with water to cater to the requirement.
