Tamil TV star Chitra's husband Hemanth arrested for alleged abetment to suicide

Tamil TV actor V. J. Chitra’s husband has been taken into custody, days after the actor’s mother accused him of beating her daughter to death.

As per police sources, based on the autopsy report, the actor had died by suicide and financial issues have emerged as a possible reason. The actor's husband, Hemnath, has been attributed for alleged abetment to suicide.

The 29-year-old actress, was found dead at a hotel outside Chennai on 10th December.

The couple tied the know a few months ago. According to police, Hemnath had been angry with Chitra for her intimate scenes in a television serial.

"Hemnath did not like a scene she had enacted on TV. On the day she died, he had also pushed her," Assistant Commissioner of Police Sudarshan told NDTV.

The actor’s husband was taken into police custody after he was interrogated for several days. Chitra's friends and colleagues on the sets were also quized by the cops.

The couple had checked into a hotel after Chitra's late-night shoot last week. Hemnath told the police that Chitra locked herself in and he found her dead after the hotel authorities opened the room.

A revenue divisional officer is probing the matter independently as mandated by law for the reason that the woman died less than seven years after marrage.
