As the cases of Coronavirus in India is rising at a rapid rate, the government is taking preventive measures to keep the deadly virus at bay. In the wake of this quacks are having a free run as they are scaring the people by telling them they have novel coronavirus if a patient has common flu.
Recently a shocking news was reported from Tamil Nadu’s Vellore district wherein a 33-year-old quack, who is a class 12 dropout was arrested for cheating people by telling them they have COVID-19 symptoms.
As per reports, he used to charge patience Rs 300- 500 on the pretext of giving them coronavirus preventive medicine. He used to tell people with fever or common flu that they show the symptoms of coronavirus.
During a surprise raid at his clinic which he was running from the past 3 years, police found his fake certificates and confirmed him to be a quack. Deputy Director of Health Sevices, P Prakash, said that he was scaring the patients who were visiting him and in the wake of pandemic he was extorting Rs 500 from patients by injecting them with antibiotic injections and by giving them tablets.
Police have booked the quack under several sections of IPC and Indian Medical Council Act.
