Smriti Irani attacks Rahul Gandhi for ‘ignoring’ Swami Vivekananda; Congress says 'spreading lies'
The Congress party on September 12 slammed Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani after she accused Rahul Gandhi of ignoring Swami Vivekananda and not paying tribute to him at Vivekananda Rock Memorial while launching his party's 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' from Kanyakumari last week.
Taking to Twitter, National Coordinator, Socia Media and Digital Communications of Congress Nitin Agarwal shared side-by-side video clips of the Union Minister's remarks at Gandhi and the former Congress president paying tribute to Vivekananda's statue. The same video clip was shared by other Congress leaders also. Youth Congress president Srinivas BV also shared the same clip with the caption ‘chal jhuti’. Leader Pawan Khera also shared the clip and wrote, “what a silly thing to do, God bless silly souls.”
In the video, Smriti Irani can be heard saying Rahul Gandhi ignored Swami Vivekananda and such gesture (honouring Vivekananda) is not acceptable from him.
However, the former Congress president visited the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari on September 7 ahead of the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ launch.
