Severed head of man found at the foot of Mahankali idol

The severed head of a man was found at the idol’s feet at a roadside place of worship in Telangana, evoking cops to set-up eight teams to verify the man's identity and find what led to the ghastly act.

The episode has indicated to the human sacrifice angle because of the manner in which the head was placed at the feet of the idol.

According to the Deputy Police Superintendent, Devarakonda, Anand Reddy, they suspect that the man, who appears to be in his 30s, was murdered some place else and his head was then brought to the spot and placed at the feet of the idol. Police are investigating every possible angle.

The cops said they are yet to locate the man's body and that they are looking at CCTV footages in the area to solve the mystery.

The extremely horrifying visuals of the chopped off head at the idol's feet have gone viral on social media. Police have also put out pictures to help confirm the victim’s identity.

In the meantime, a family from nearby area has got in touch with police and said that facial structure of the man was identical to that of a 30-year-old mentally disturbed man who left home about two years back.

The shocking matter surfaced after the priest at the roadside place of worship saw the severed head at the feet of the idol and immediately called the cops.

On receiving the alert, police swiftly arrived at the location and took up probe after a murder case was lodged.
