Rajasthan: Seers perform puja, havans to save cows from lumpy skin disease

Amid rising cases of lumpy skin disease in Rajasthan, seers in Jaipur performed yagyas to protect the cows from the dreadful disease.

'Gau Pusthi Mahayagya' is being organised at Om Trishakti Ashram in Bhanpurkalan under the guidance of Mahant Narendra Das. The eight-day Mahayagya is being organised to give strength to cows to fight against the lumpy skin disease. A Panch Kundiya Mahayagya also started in Jaipur on September 15 and will end on September 22.

On September 13, a havan was organised at the Jaipur Municipal Corporation Heritage headquarters in which Mayor Munesh Gurjar and councillors participated. During the havan, Mayor Gurjar said that she will not wear any footwear and will remain barefooted until the dreadful disease subsides.

Recently, a 'Gayatri Mahayagya' and havan were performed at Nirjara Mahadev temple in Jaipur in order to save the cattle from the dreadful disease. During the havan, the Gayatri Mantra was chanted 1.25 lakh times.

As per data from the Animal Husbandry Department, as many as 13,02,907 animals have been affected by the lumpy skin disease and over 59,000 animals have died due to the disease. A total of 10,80,967 cattle in Rajasthan state have been vaccinated.

Meanwhile, veterinary doctors are inoculating cows and other cattle to protect them from lumpy skin disease.
