Rajasthan political crisis: Audio featuring Sachin Pilot camp MLAs talking about toppling 'Ashok Gehlot govt’ surfaces

In the development, several audio recordings of Congress MLA of the Sachin Pilot camp purportedly talking about overthrowing the Ashok Gehlot government have gone viral on the internet. The conversations chew over various steps to be taken to oust the Congress government in Rajasthan.

Genuineness of the audio tapes couldn’t be corroborated, however, according to reports the recorded conversation was between MLA Bhanwar Lal Sharma and BJP leader Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

What is in the tape:

As maintained by a report in The Print, the tapes were made public by the Ashok Gehlot camp in the midst of the ongoing row with the rebel MLAs headed by Sachin Pilot.

According to reports Gajendra Shekhawat was in contact with Bhanwar Lal Sharma through a middleman identified as Sanjay Jain. In the leaked recording, Bhanwar Lal Sharma is purported heard saying the rebel camp will in no time collect 30 MLAs in their support.

A second person is heard saying that the government will be brought to its knees before long.

BJP leader Gajendra Shekhawat is purportedly heard saying that it would take another 8-10 days and the rebel MLAs should stay at a hotel as more MLAs will be joining forces with the Sachin Pilot camp.

One person is also heard saying, “Our men in Delhi have received the money. The first installment has reached them.”

After the audio started doing the rounds on the internet, MLA Bhawar Lal posted a tweet which read, “Fake audio clips have been released in my name. It is not my voice in these audio clips. I have not spoken to any leader. This is a ploy to malign my name by releasing fake audios.”

At the same time, a statement put out by the supporters of Ashok Gehlot stated that this was the fifth attempt by Bhanwar Lal Sharma to overthrow the government this time with Pilot.

The following day Sachin Pilot was dismissed from his post as the PCC chief and Deputy Chief Minister of the state, Gehlot accused him of being enmeshed in horce trading with the BJP to oust his government.

While talking to the media Ashok Gehlot said the "former Pradesh Congress Committee president" was himself “doing the deal”.
