Rajasthan farmers bear brunt of unseasonal rains; crops damaged in 26 districts

Monsoon rains had previously brought a smile to the faces of farmers of Rajasthan. However, heavy showers of post-monsoon ruined the farmers' crops to the point where they cannot recover losses.

In 26 districts of Rajasthan, the unseasonal rainfall has ruined standing crops along with harvested crops in more than seventy percent of the area.

Former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan and Congress leader Sachin Pilot visited Tonk and Jhalawar districts and reviewed the damage. Satish Poonia, Rajasthan BJP president, also took stock of crop damage in Hadoti. At the same time, former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has also conducted an aerial survey of crop damage in Jhalawar, Baran, Tonk, Bundi, Bhilwara and Kota districts and said that this rain has caused a huge loss to the farmers.

After politicians’ visit, a team from the Rajasthan Agriculture Department also visited the affected areas.

Assessment of crop loss on the instructions of CM

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot issued instructions to conduct a survey of crop damage. After this, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Lalchand Kataria formed teams that visited the affected districts to assess crop loss.

This came to the fore in the assessment of the teams of the Agriculture Department

• Soybean, paddy and urad crops have been completely destroyed in Kota.
• Crops have been ruined in Bharatpur, Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur divisions.
• The crops of millet, groundnut and jowar were destroyed in Jaipur.
• In Udaipur, maize, paddy and soybean were destroyed by rain water.
• Malnutrition has come to the fore in Ajmer in millet and groundnut.

The State Government is making every possible effort to provide relief to farmers.
