Railway Recruitment 2019: Railways to release over 2 lakh new vacancies, says Piyush Goyal
Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal dropped another bombshell by announcing that Railway Recruitment Board will soon to start another recruitment drive for Railways aspirants on Friday.
Earlier on 28 June, Piyush Goyal in Rajya Sabha’s question hour session said, “New employment opportunities have been created for 2.25 to 2.5 lakh people and currently, the recruitment process of 1.5 lakh vacant positions are under process. The Railways will, therefore, provide as many as 4 lakh jobs.”
Therefore, it would be a golden opportunity for unemployed and aspirants who want to work in Indian Railways.
Also, Railway Recruitment Board will soon to release around 9,000 vacancies for the posts of Constables and Sub-Inspectors.
Here's what Piyush Goyal said:
Under this recruitment drive, Railways will target women by providing 50 percent reservation which means out of the total vacancies around 4000 vacancies will be reserved for female candidates.
Earlier in January 2019, Indian Railways had announced to released four lakh new vacancies by 2021. After the introduction of EWS quota, Railway Minister also announced to give 10 percent quota to economically weaker section candidates.
Piyush Goyal also said that a total of 15.06 lakh posts have been approved by Indian Railways. Out of the total vacancies, 12.23 lakh people got jobs, while 2.82 vacancies are still vacant.
"Last year, we started the recruitment process for 1.51 lakh posts. Of that 1.31 lakh posts are still vacant. About 99000 posts will be vacant in coming two years because as many as 53,000 in 2019 and 46,000 employees in 2020 will retire,” Goyal added.
