Punjab: Inspired by TV serials, class 12 boy bludgeons grandmother to death
In an appalling incident reported from Punjab, a class 12 boy beat up his bed-ridden 83-year-old grandmother to death in a frenzy of anger over her insistence to study rather than wasting time on mobile phones and roaming around on a bike.
After executing the horrendous act, the boy, who was 16-year-old put her body on fire and locked himself in a room in his house to make it look like that robbers did this act. The incident took place in the Bassi Kale Khan village on Monday. At the time of the crime, the boy's parents were not at home.
As maintained by the cops, the boy owned up to the killing of his grandmother, he furter stated that he killed her by hitting an iron rod on her head. He got the idea from television crime serials.
Following the crime, the 16-year-old called his parents in order to tell them that four criminals had broken in with an intention of robbery and had set the grandma's room ablaze.
When his parents came back, they discovered their son lying in a bed with hands and feet tied. The door of the room was locked from outside. The family alerted the cops about the crime.
In the time of his interrogation, the boy admitted to the crime, Superintendent of Police Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu told the media. He said the boy took the idea from the crime serials and was planning the murder for some time. The accused has been sent to a juvenile correction home.
