Neighbour pours petrol on girl, sets her ablaze
In a horrifying occurrence reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr, a girl was set of fire by her neighbour, the victim breathed her last at a Delhi hospital on Tuesday. She was going through treatment at a hospital.
The victim was set ablaze when she had gone to her neighbour’s house in order to drink water in Bulandshahr's Khurja Nagar Kotwali area. However, her neighbour poured petrol on her and set her ablaze.
The victim was referred to a hospital in the national capital. On Tuesday morning, she died from her burn injuries, Khurja Kotwali in-charge Dixit Kumar Tyagi said.
According to claims made by the cops, the accused had a romantic entanglement with the victim's elder brother. The accused has not been taken into police custody so far.
In another incident, a girl was attacked with a knife allegedly by her neighbour after she tried to oppose molestation in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia, the police said on Monday.
The man was later taken into custody and a case has been filed against him.
"Both accused and victim knew each other. The girl sustained knife injuries on her face after she tried to withstand molestation," Superintendent of Police (SP) for Ballia Vipin Tada said.
"A case was lodged over the complaint of the victim's father. She has been admitted to a hospital. Her condition is better now," he said.
Further investigation into the case is being carried out.
