Mumbai Shocker: 25-year-old man held for raping, impregnating 13-year-old

A 25-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl in Mumbai, police said. 

The incident came to light when the 13-year-old girl complained of stomach ache, after which her family took her to the nearest hospital for check-ups where a doctor told her family that she is five months pregnant. 

According to the Antop Hill police, the accused man, who is the victim's neighbour used to rape the 13-year-old girl when she used to be alone at home.

"When the accused came to know about this, he immediately fled from the spot. We started an investigation and arrested him from the Mira Road area," the police said.

The accused man will be produced before a court on March 25.

Meanwhile, the police have registered a case under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and POCSO Act.
