A 39-year-old women was arrested for allegedly murdering her neighbour’s four-year-old son in connection with an old dispute in Mumbai, said police on Wednesday.
The women, identified as Madhu Gadhe, called the boy to her residence in a chawl at Santoshi Mata Nagar on Monday and allegedly throttled him with a pair of leggings, a police official stated.
Then the accused dumped him head down in a bucket filled with water in her bathroom, a police official stated.
Meanwhile, when the boy’s mother couldn’t find him, she checked the houses of all neighbours, but Gadhe did not allow her to enter her house.
Later, the boy's mother and other neighbours by some means managed to enter Gadhe's house and found the child's body in her bathroom, the official added.
Gadhe was taken into custody on Tuesday and a case was filed against her under IPC Section 302, Sahar Police station’s police officer Shashikant Mane stated.
The accused and the victim's family lived in the same locality and they often used to fight over small issues, he said.
