Mangaluru: Two-year-old sexually harassed, accused nabbed
In a shocking incident reported from Mangaluru's Hoigebazar area, a two-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on Sunday. The incident became known on Tuesday, after which the police arrested the accused.
According to a report by Deccan Chronicle, the accused works as a laborer and was taken into police custody under POCSO Act.
The family members of the victim work as laborers too in the area.
The laborers usually leave their children in a room near their workplace during work hours and pick them after the work ends.
Earlier on Sunday also, the parents had left the two-year-old in the room and went for duty. In the evening when they returned, they could not find their daughter.
They searched for the two-year-old kid and finally found her around 9 pm in a saltwater tank which was used to store the fish. The unconcious kid was rushed to a private hospital where they sent the child to a government hospital.
The doctors while treating the girl found that the child was sexually assaulted and informed the police, who then started an investigation, later arresting the accused.
"The child is under treatment. Her condition is better," Mangaluru City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar told reporters.
