Man kills 65-year-old grandfather to pay his debt worth Rs 30,000
A man allegedly killed a 65-year-old man and also stole his gold ornaments to clear his debt worth Rs 30,000. The incident took place in Devanahalli town of Bengaluru district in Karnataka.
The man used to address his grandfather as ‘taata’ (grandfather). According to the police, the 22-year-old accused man identified as Rakesh, a resident of Parasannhalli Road. While the victim identified as Nagaraja Murthy used to live near Tipu Birthplace Road. Rakesh and Murthy knew each other as the 65-year-old man often visited his brother, who is Rakesh’s neighbour.

As per the timesnownews.com report, Rakesh comes from a well-to-do family. His father reportedly owns property over Rs 7 crore in the area.
Know why Rakesh killed an old man:
Allegedly, Rakesh borrowed around Rs 30,000 from his friends. Due to this, he was under pressure to pay the money. He saw Murthy wearing two gold rings and a chain. Therefore, he got an idea to pay off his debt by stealing all his gold ornaments.
On January 15, when Murthy was on his way back home from Silicon Layout, Rakesh allegedly assaulted him with a cricket bat from behind. He then stabbed the man in the neck.
Later, Murthy succumbed to his injuries. Thereafter, Rakesh dumped the body of the sexagenarian in the nearby bushes and fled with the gold ornaments.
Murthy’s family members filed a police complaint when the man didn’t return home. Rakesh also joined them in order to avoid suspicion.
During the investigation, police zeroed in on Rakesh with the help of CCTV footage and took him for interrogation.
He confessed to the crime and disclosed the motive behind killing the man.
Meanwhile, Rakesh has been arrested by the cops and also have recovered the stolen ornaments from him.
