In a recent development coming in from Maharashtra’s Navi Mumbai, a 55-year-old man and his two sons allegedly murdered his younger sibling on Monday. reportedly after an altercation erupted between them over a long-standing dispute related to their ancestral property.

The accused, identified as Balaram Patil, a native of Ghotgaon in Taloja, and his two sons, identified as Manoj Patil, aged 25 and Nitin Patil aged 22. The trio allegedly killed Balaram’s sibling, identified as Nivrutti Patil, aged 52.While Manoj has been taken into police custody, Balaram and Nitin are still at large, as per police.

As maintained by a report by The Times of India, the victim’s married sister, identified as Sunanda Kolekar has registered a complaint with the police relating to the crime. She said that she along with her now-deceased brother Nivrutti were setting up an underground pipeline for a new borewell on their ancestral land.

Balaram and his sons took objection to the installation of the pipeline on the property. This prompted a heated argument.

Shortly afterwards, the three accused, started beating up Sunanda and Nivrutti with wooden sticks. Balaram’s ender son, identified as Manoj attacked Nivrutti using a sickle. Nivrutti was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Sunanda, who managed to flee from the scene, received medical treatment at a hospital in Panvel. Later, she approached the police and filed a complaint.

This incident surfaces weeks after a 35-year-old man and his 29-year-old wife -- who was pregnant -- were dragged out of their house and murdered by their close kins at a village in Bihar’s Vaishali district. A dispute over ancestral property had led to the killing, according to the police.
