Lucknow shocker: Elderly woman mauled to death by son's pitbull dog

In a recent development coming in from Lucknow’s Kaiserbagh area, an 82-year-old retired teacher was mauled to death by her son's pet pitbull dog on Tuesday morning.

The now deceased has been identified as Sushila Tripathi. Her son, identified as Amit, a gym trainer, owned two pet dogs - a pitbull and a labrador. The dog which attacked the woman, was brought home three years back. The family is a resident of the Bengali Tola area of Kaiserbagh.

The horrifying episode happened at around 6 am when the woman was all by herself in the house. Later, her son found her lying in a pool of blood. The elderly woman was taken to the Balrampur hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

According to the autopsy report, a total of 12 severe wounds from neck to abdomen were found on Sushila's body.

As maintained by the neighbours, "At around 6 am, they heard dogs barking and Sushila crying out for help when she was attacked. We rushed to their house but it was locked from the inside. When the woman's son reached the house, he opened the door and found the victim severely injured."

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation put out a set of instructions for keeping dogs named Swan License Control and Regulation Bye-law 2003. As per the guidelines, people who are fond of keeping dogs will be required to mandatorily get a license after adhering to a number of conditions.

Furthermore, the manual states that any person shall keep and bind his dog in such a way that there is no complaint from neighbours.

A total of 4,824 licenses have been issued in Lucknow, out of which 2,370 are for large breed dogs.
