Labourer's hand hacked off by employer over wage demands, three nabbed
In an appalling incident of crime reported from Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district, a Dalit man’s hand was cut off using a sword after he demanded his wages from an upper caste man. Albeit the victim’s hand was put back by the doctors, his condition is said to be serious.
The accused ran away from the crime spot after executing the horrific act. However, three people have been taken into police custody in relation to the crime.
The remorseless episode occurred in Dolmau village which falls under the juirsdiction of Sirmaur police station in Rewa district.
The 45-year-old victim, identified as Ashok Saket earned his living as a labourer. Saket had provided his services to one Ganesh Mishra at his village in Dolmau, according to a report in Aajtak.
It is alleged that the accused did not give money to Ashok Saket and turned him down on one pretext or other.
Subsequently, when the victim went to ask for his wage, the accused lost his temper and chopped off the labouret’s hand with a sword. Following the horrific incident, some accused tried to hide the severed hand of the victim but failed to do so.
The victim is now fighting to live at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital. Doctors carried out a difficult operation to reinstate the victim’s hand.
Police have now charged the acused under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of Indian Penal Code and Section 3(2)1 of the SC/SCT Act.
According to SP Navneet Bhasin, the main accused, identified as Ganesh Mishra, his friend Ratnesh Mishra and Krishna Kumar Mishra have been taken into police custody.
