Keshav Maurya urges people to vote for ally Congress’ even if its candidate is from Pakistan; says ‘pratyashi koi bhi ho, panja ko vote dena’
The grand old party’s ally Mahan Dal chief Keshav Dev Maurya urged the people to vote for the Congress candidate in the upcoming national polls and not to forget its election symbol ‘Panja’ (hand). Addressing rally in Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh Maurya asked people to vote for Congress if the candidate was from Pakistan.
In the rally titled Mahan Dal ki Aabhaar, senior Congress leaders including Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee chief Raj Babbar, Rashid Alvi and Naseemuddin Siddiqui were present.
"Pratyashi mat dekhna, haath ka panja (Congress' election symbol) dekh lena, usi pe vote de dena, pratyashi koi bhi ho, accha ho, kharab ho, Pakistan se bhi aake lade, Mahan Dal ko koi aitraaz nahi hoga (Don't look at the candidate. Just take note of the hand symbol and vote for it. Let the candidate be a bad guy or even a Pakistani coming to contest elections. Mahan Dal will not have a problem)," Maurya said.
Addressing the gathering, Maurya in his thanksgiving meet, Maurya urged the audience to pay tributes to the CRPF martyrs of February 14 Pulwama attack.
Mahan Dal, launched in the year 2008 by Maurya, reportedly enjoys the support of Other Backward Castes (OBC). Congress had contested Assembly elections in 2012 as well as Lok Sabha polls in 2014 in alliance with Mahan Dal.
