Jharkhand: Stepson slits his throat after killing all family members

In a shocking incident, a man allegedly killed a married couple and their two sons in Dhanbad town in Jharkhand on Monday morning, police said.

The deceased identified as Munna Yadav (45), his wife Meena Devi (35), and sons Rahul (20) and Rohit (14). All were found dead at their rented home in Gandhi Road in the Dhansar police station area, they said.

As per the news agency, PTI, it is suspected that Rahul, who is Meena’s son from a previous marriage, stabbed four people to death. After killing all members of the family, Rahul slit his throat with a sharp weapon, police said after the initial investigation.

The incident came to light when the neighbours first spotted the bodies after seeing blood coming out of the house. Police were informed about the incident.

All four members of the family were lying in the pool of blood after cops broke the door which was locked from inside, an official said.

Police recovered two sharp weapons from the room.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police Manoj Swargyari, the incident appeared to be the result of a family dispute.

All bodies have been sent for post-mortem. Meanwhile, further investigation is underway, an official told reporters.

Rahul’s mother Meena married Munna after the death of her first husband and had another son, Rohit.

The deceased family’s neighbour told police that Rahul was not living with the family and came to Dhanbad last month to live with them. Since then, the family members were having arguments with each other.
