Jharkhand: Man arrested for raping 17-year-old specially-abled girl

A teen specially-abled girl was allegedly raped in Jharkhand. A case was lodged in this matter on the grounds of a complaint by the victim's father and further investigation is underway.

In his police complaint, the victim’s father stated that she had gone missing on 17th January. When he inquired around, a neighbour told the father that the girl had been seen with Kitu Kumar, a native of Dhanbad.

In the company of their relatives, the victim’s father rushed to Kumar's house. I knocked on the door many times but nobody answered, the father said. He further added that when the accused Kitu Kumar did open the door, he could see his daughter inside.

The 17-year-old girl who is specially-abled and has a hearing problem indicated to her father that something is wrong. By the time the father could figure out the situation, the accused Kitu Kumar ran away from the spot.

Mohan Thakur, SHO of Muffasil police station in Jharkhand's Giridih, told India Today that the accused has been taken into custody from Jharkhand’s Dhanbad and will be brought to Giridih in a day or two.
