Jaish chief Masood Azhar is suffering from ‘renal failure,’ undergoes dialysis, says report

Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed founder Masood Azhar is suspected to be suffering from ‘renal failure’ and is undergoing regular dialysis at an army hospital in Rawalpindi in Pakistan, said government officials.

This reports by the security personnel came after Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the Jaish chief is "unwell".

"Recent reports indicate that Masood Azhar is now afflicted with renal failure and is under treatment and regular dialysis at the army hospital in Rawalpindi, the headquarters of the Pakistan Army," a senior security official said.

"He is in Pakistan, according to my information. He is unwell to the extent that he can't leave his house, because he's really unwell,” Qureshi on Thursday said.

In an interview with CNN news channel, Qureshi claimed “Azhar is in Pakistan. According to my information, he is very unwell. He is unwell to the extent that he can’t leave his house, because he’s really unwell.”

Notably, Jaish chief Masood Azhar was a close aide of Osama bin Laden. Laden is known as terror motivator in several African countries and also known by many as the Pakistani cleric who brought jihad into the religious discourse at mosques in the UK, the official said.

Masood Azhar, who heads the Jaish-e-Mohammad terror group, has been responsible for various attacks in India like the 2001 Parliament, Pathankot Airbase attack, Pulwama blast, which killed more than 40 CRPF soldiers among others.

India has been repeatedly trying to blacklist Masood Azhar and put him under the UN list of “global terrorist” although China has been blocking India’s attempts by vetoing its power.
